Install a Tetrate Istio distribution on AWS EKS

You can manually install a Tetrate Istio distribution on an AWS EKS cluster using any of the supported methods, such as helm or istioctl.

Alternatively, you can follow these instructions and Tetrate's EKS Add-On to perform the installation. Please note that the EKS Add-On only provides non-FIPS installation.

Installation Steps

1. Prepare your EKS Cluster

   Prepare your EKS cluster by creating a Kubernetes context for kubectl

2. Install a Tetrate Istio distribution

   Install a Tetrate Istio distribution using the AWS EKS Add-On

3. Deploy the Ingress Gateway

   Deploy an Ingress Gateway on EKS, following the Istio install
