Onboarding to TIS Plus

This Onboarding Guide walks through the steps needed to connect your Istio-enabled Kubernetes clusters to Tetrate Istio Subscription Plus (TIS Plus). It finishes with a simple verification process to ensure TIS Plus is functioning correctly with your Istio deployment.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

Component	Comments
Kubernetes Cluster	Kubernetes 1.25 - 1.30; with Istio already installed
Istio	Istio version 1.20 or later. You can use upstream Istio of TIS Istio
Standard CLI tools	kubectl, helm, curl/wget
TIS Plus Account	Provisioned by Tetrate; contact Tetrate to set this up

Expected Time to Install

Operation	Duration
TIS Plus account provisioning	1-2 business days (performed by Tetrate)
Onboard Cluster	10-20 minutes per cluster

Installation Steps

1. TIS Plus Access

   Contact Tetrate to have your TIS Plus management plane provisioned. Tetrate will provide you with access credentials and necessary connection information.

2. Obtain the TIS Plus images

   Obtain the TIS Plus software images, from the Tetrate repo.

3. Prepare Your Cluster

   Ensure your Istio-enabled cluster meets all prerequisites before onboarding to TIS Plus.

4. Onboard Istio Clusters

   Onboard one or more Istio clusters into TIS Plus by installing TIS Plus Control Plane.

5. Post Installation Actions

   Perform post-installation actions to ensure correct configuration and functionality.
